NRJ Awards Were a Big Night For Ice Watch Fans

The Watch Hut, February 3, 2012

The NRJ Awards are always a treat for Francophone music fans and this year’s event not only pleased music lovers but also turned in to a major event for the followers of Belgian watch brand Ice Watch who were a major sponsor of the event.

The ceremony held this year at Palais des Festivals et des Congres in Cannes is widely regarded as the French equivalent of the Brits or the USA’s Grammy Awards and is widely attended by international artists such as Rihanna and English singer Adele who won the International Song of the Year for ‘Someone Like You’. Also amongst the award winners was Anglo-French artist Mika, who has also been known for wearing extravagant watches.

The awards show, now in its 12th year, is acknowledged for the uniquely stylish fashions that are worn on its red carpet. The standout fashion this year was a unique transparent corset with a white tinsel-like material interspersed to create frosted effect worn by the winner of the French speaking Female Artist of the Year, Sky’m. The 26-year-old singer best known for her 2008 hit "Si tu Savais" completed her outfit with a toga-like skirt.

The Ice Watch brand was created in 2007 by its founders Jean-Pierre Lutgen, Polly Yu & Christy So and the range of colourful designs makes the watches the perfect complement to the stylish awards show.

Popular across the continent, the brand is worn by some of today’s hippest music stars such as British girl band The Saturdays, French DJ David Guetta (who coincidentally won the 2011 NRJ ‘Hit of the Year award’) and rapper Flo Rida. The products of Ice-watch are designed to be bold and bright and look great on any wrist. The company's products are also regularly featured in many cool French films and other great examples of European Cinema.
