Exhibition in Valencia, Spain: The glory of the baroque

, July 30, 2010

This exhibition in the city of Valencia presents the Baroque art of the region through painting, sculpture and ornamental gold work.

The exhibition features a collection of 144 works including furniture, paintings, sculptures, fabrics, ornamental gold work and documents, which are grouped into three themes: Valencia’s Baroque painting; sculpture and gold articles created in Valencia from the Middle Ages through to the 20th century; and devotion to the Virgin Mary. The exhibition also unveils the restoration works carried out in its three different venues (the churches of San Esteban Protomártir, San Martín Obispo and San Antonio Abad, and San Juan de la Cruz), in their distinctive Baroque style.
