COALITION GOVERNMENT HITS FAMILY FRIENDLY BRITAIN WITH DOUBLE WHAMMY

Childcare Voucher Solutions, October 10, 2010

Despite the Coalition Governments claims that they are growing a family friendly Britain, they have announced this week that they are going to be reducing the “child benefit” that all parents are currently able to claim. This is the second benefit to be reduced under the new governments stewardship, as the Childcare Vouchers scheme is also to be reduced, hitting parents with a double whammy. The Childcare Vouchers scheme will be cut in April 2011, and then in April 2013 it will be followed by a cut to the Childcare benefit.

Under the old Childcare Vouchers scheme parents earning a higher amount, could potentially save significantly more than parents earning less money, meaning that the benefit was biased towards higher earners. The new rules will ensure that the scheme is fairer towards people with lower earnings, which is in keeping with the idea that higher earners will not receive as many benefits, as they can afford to support themselves. There is still an opportunity for those with higher earnings to benefit from the scheme if they sign up prior to the April 2011 deadline.

Childcare Voucher Solutions are a leading provider of Childcare Voucher schemes in the work place, and are able to facilitate the introduction of a Childcare Vouchers scheme in a quick and efficient manner, in order to maximise the benefit to the scheme members prior to the April 2011 deadline.
