YOUNG FRENCH SOMMELIER ROCKS THE WORLD OF WINE

French sommelier Olivier Magny posts new videos teaching the audience about specific grapes, specific countries, specific regions, or specific appellations. Olivier Magny is a character in the world of wine. He successfully started his own Wine Tasting Company in Paris, France at age 24. His wine tasting classes have been

Olivier has been a guest on numerous TV shows in France and on the BBC. He is frequently described as ‘the Jamie Oliver of wine’ bringing his refreshing and witty personality as the best possible response to any form of wine snobbery. Wine Rendez-Vous provides helpful wine information with a personal touch. “Wine Snobs high jacked the world of wine… Wine Rendez Vous is my response to them”. “Drinking wine is fun but learning can be quite dull. I’m trying to make it somewhat entertaining” Olivier says.

Most videos are shot from Olivier’s loft in Paris. For some, he even takes the viewers to the actual wine regions to meet wine makers and show people around. “Many people have no clue that Saint-Emilion is actually a village… so when I talk about Saint Emilion wines, I want people to see Saint Emilion, it’s the best way to remember things”. With a unique approach, WineRendezVous appeals to both wine geeks and people who are just starting to drink wine. “I want everybody to feel comfortable and to learn new things when watching these videos” Magny says.

The idea of starting this video blog came at the end of one class. “I wanted to keep teaching this group. Two hours were great to give them an overview and a better understanding; they got the big picture, but I wanted to go deeper. The best way to do this was by shooting video classes… so people can continue their wine education”. WineRendezVous is a small revolution in the world of wine.
