Walsall developer urges residential market to attract first time buyers - A leading Walsall developer has hit out at the residential property sector for forcing first time buyers and ‘upsizers’ out of the marketplace. David Poyner, Director at David Poyner Homes (DPH), believes escalating house prices could force the industry to implode, as ‘new build’ projects are looking to cash in on rising buying powers and larger mortgages. The entrepreneur is adamant that if the market does not address this issue it could spark a serious missing link in property chains across the Black Country and South Staffordshire. “We have to encourage first time buyers to get on the ladder. Put simply, without them the rest of the market will suffer, from the one-bed apartments offer, right through to the big multi-million pound houses.

the ladder. Put simply, without them the rest of the market will suffer, from the one-bed apartments offer, right through to the big multi-million pound houses.” David continued: “With this in mind, we’ve looked at a number of incentive schemes designed to make the whole process a lot more cost effective, starting today with a trio of special offers.” Visitors to the company’s Locksmith Forge site – a select cul-de-sac development of 21, three-bedroom town houses in Willenhall – will be able to choose from a range of options, including ‘move in’ for just £99 and the opportunity to receive a free eco-friendly Ford KA when you complete. Furthermore, DPH has teamed up with a leading financial institution to offer buyers the chance to own the properties for just £150,000, with the remaining £25,000 (15% of the ownership) retained as part of a 10 year loan. This can be repaid at any time or when the house is re-sold.

“These incentives offer something for everyone and could provide the financial breathing space that many first time buyers are looking for,” explained David. “In addition, the deals have also been put together with ‘upsizers’ in mind and particularly young professionals looking to move into their first family home.” Situated no more than two miles from the M6 motorway, all properties at Locksmith’s Forge have been carefully designed to provide a real community feel and come with ground floor entrance with garage, front and rear garden and two bath/shower rooms. Its location makes it ideal for commuting to the commercial centres of Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Telford, whilst remaining within touching distance of rural Staffordshire and its acres of unspoilt countryside, canals, quaint public houses and restaurants. “Nearly 50% of the development has been sold already and, with the new incentives set to be rolled out, interest in the unique scheme is expected to go from strength to strength,” concluded David.
