Co-Founder of Coffee Republic, Sahar Hashemi has just written “Intrapreneurship: What Happens to the Entrepreneurial Spirit In Large Organisations?” In this article she looks at the challenges big organisations face in executing good ideas through layers of management “where innovation can get bogged down in a morass of analysis and bureaucracy”. Sahar’s keynote speech, which is applicable to businesses of all sizes, addresses how to create a climate of innovation and passion that brings out the entrepreneurial spirit in your employees. Sahar’s book titled “Anyone can do it –
Building Coffee Republic from our Kitchen Table” published by John Wiley & Sons, is already into its second edition and can be purchased from any good book store. (ISBN: 1841125792)
John Suchet. In John’s new talk “One More Shot Bob” he recounts some of his adventures as a globe trotting television news reporter. John reported for ITN from every country in Western Europe. He also covered events in Iran, Afghanistan, Lebanon, southern Africa, the United States and the Philippines. In early 1980 John travelled into Afghanistan several times, disguised as a Majaheddin, to cover the Soviet invasion of that country. On one occasion, he and his camera crew were captured, put up against a wall, and believed they were in front of a firing squad. This terrifying ordeal – which had its humorous moments as well – gives John the title of his talk. If you want to join John on a roller-coaster ride through his career, which begins in the days of film and ends in an age of satellite technology and 24 hours news, give us call. Tessa McGregor. Tessa McGregor is back in the UK after another 3 months research into Snow Leopards in Altai mountains on the Siberian/Mongolian border. It was hard work, but very worthwhile, highlighting the terrible problem of poaching. Apart from Snow Leopards Tessa is a recognised expert on the tigers of the Sundarbans in Bangladesh. She spent months in the field, doing research and supporting film teams in an effort to understand man-eating in tigers. She is equally interested in the people who live in the remote places she works in. She was interested in finding ways of minimising human-wildlife conflict long before it became fashionable. Tessa’s talks are a mix of entertainment and knowledge combined with a charismatic personality and skilful use of sound and slides. If you’re looking for something slightly different why not book Tessa for your next lunch or dinner.
