Press Release from:
Public Speaking Courses
Regardless of the setting, there are 10 rule of communication that should be followed. This is true for Public Speaking, presenting, meetings, phone calls and even e-mails, faxes and letters. Ignore them at your peril!
1. You are presenting for your audience, so make them the centre of your presentation; 2. Know why you are speaking before you start to prepare. You will save yourself an enormous amount of time; 3. Humour is great, but don’t use jokes. Not everyone will find your joke funny; 4. Find out what your audience is thinking and play to it. It
will help them relate to you;
5. People don’t just want to know the facts; they want to know what your facts mean to them. So tell the stories behind the facts! Tell a story to make your point; 6. Then tell another story to make your next point; 7. The pause is powerful…………….It draws people in to what you have to say; 8. Retain control of the room—never finish with a Q&A; & 9. Always leave them wanting more.
