Following the demands of the users, the worldwide address service (service d'adresse mondial, SAM) adds support for the two special postal services “Registered item” and “Airmail”.
The worldwide address service is a convenient way to print out a postal address, especially addresses written in a language not using Latin letters, such as Japanese or Russian. There is no need for a special software, foreign language fonts or subscription.

Using the worldwide address service, the receiver registers his address and receives the so-called SAM-code, an 8-letter code. Using the SAM-code, the sender of a letter can look up and print out the address. Originally intended for pen friends and expats, SAM is now more and more used by global enterprises and universities for their international communication.
