20 Wolverhampton businessmen swapped their grey suits and ties for Marks and Spencer’s pink bras last night, when they officially launched their new fundraising campaign for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. The Wolverhampton Round Table (WRT), which is one of the longest established organisations of its type in the UK, has set its sights on raising £10,000 for the Charity through a special auction, high-profile ‘Summer Ball’ and the chance to win a £23k car on the roll of a dice. “We are delighted to be throwing our support behind such a worthwhile cause and, with the help of local
people and companies, genuinely believe we can surpass the target set,” explained Daryl Seivewright, Chairman of WRT.
“There will be lots of highlights during the action packed evening, which will feature champagne reception, three course meal and top quality entertainment from leading band the ‘Funkadelics’.” He continued: “The car ‘give away’ is the first time anything like this has ever been done, with Benham BMW generously agreeing to provide a 1 Series for any guest who can get all sixes from rolling seven dices.” Sponsored by local house builder Bentley Homes, the Summer Ball will take place on 8th September at Patshull Park Hotel, with 200 guests already confirmed. That leaves only fifty places left and, with each table on sale for £450, the Wolverhampton Round Table is hoping to post the sold-out notices shortly. Breakthrough Breast Cancer Representative Shirley Rutter added her support: “It is great to see local businessmen putting something back into the community and making it so enjoyable in the process. They’ve really got into the spirit of things and the ‘Ball’ will be a real night to remember.” Founded in 1929, the Wolverhampton Round Table has enjoyed a resurgence in fortunes over the last twelve months, with membership increasing from just six to its current level of 20 people. In the last decade, it has worked tirelessly to raise over £50,000 for local charities and good causes, including ‘When you Wish Upon a Star’ and Promise Dreams. Daryl concluded: “Interest in WRT is increasing all the time and we are actively encouraging people to get involving by attending one of our fortnightly meetings. “It is a great chance to do something worthwhile, make friends and win new business.” For further information or to book your table, please contact Andy Timbrell on 07738 941460.
