Pushing Into the Industry; Bri's introduction
|
Press Release from:
Mac Mamas Inc.
My name is Briana, but I go by my stage name, Bri da Mac. I am a hip-hop artist from Atlanta, where hip-hop artists are a dime a dozen. However, I truly believe that I stand out of the crowd, and I have more to offer than the average rapper. I want to share some things that I have come to learn in this business.
Ah, the music industry. I have been in this industry now for five years. I feel like I am so close, but still so far away from the prize. This industry is 20 % talent, and 80 % who you know. I used to not believe this, but the more I learn, the more I believe it!
In addition, I have extra challenges, being that I am female. Every man with a little bit of power seems to think that you will sleep with him since you want to make it. How ridiculous! I am not a feminist by any means, but this chauvinist attitude really burns me up. I am an artist, not a prostitute. Sorry guys! So, I want to let all the other females in this industry know that you are not alone, and you do NOT, I repeat do NOT have to give in to this male mentality. In my opinion, if a girl were to give it up for the sake of moving up the ladder, it would have the opposite affect. I feel that men LOSE respect for women that are easy, and they gain respect for women that say no. Another piece of advice that I can give is to never give up. I know this saying is played out, but it is SO true! One day I’ll feel like everything is going up and in the right direction, then the next day there are road blocks everywhere and I have no idea what I am doing. This is so normal! It sucks, but without the downs, you would not know the ups. My theory is the ONLY people that do not make it are the people that give up! Stay tuned for more articles from bri.
