Polymerupdate’s Asian Petrochemical Monthly Price Watch Report for December 2007 states, Crude oil prices rose sharply on December 26. Nymex Crude futures surged sharply to last trade at USD 95.97/barrel while Dated Brent spot prices ended the trading day higher at USD 94.24/barrel. WTI Cushing prices ended the trading day up at USD 95.97/barrel. Asian open spec naphtha prices on December 13 assessed sharply higher with bids for the 2nd half of January at the USD 884/mt CFR Far East levels while the ask rate was at the USD 886/mt CFR Far East levels.

week 3 in Asia galloped higher by a whopping USD 30/mt to USD 40/mt in some parts of the region, continued to remain pegged firm on December 26. Prices of PP in Asia during week 4 did not register any gains as buying activity in the region remained subdued. Benzene prices on December 21 raced higher in Asia. FOB Korea price discussions were at above the USD 995/mt levels. Methanol prices in some parts of Asia continued to correct lower through week 3. Butadiene prices rallied in Asia during week 3. Prices of butadiene were up more than USD 120/mt with rates rising to above the USD 1560/mt FOB Korea levels. MEG prices in Asia tumbled during week 3. Asian prices of DOP pulled lower during week 3 as regional demand was seen sluggish. 2 EH prices in Asia during week 3 edged higher, climbing as regional availability remained very limited
