In 1910, a woman in Washington by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd thought of the idea for Father's Day as an official day to celebrate the special person called ‘dad’. In 1926, a National Father's Day Committee was formed in New York City and thereafter the custom spread across the world. that a father upholds. Nowadays Father’s Day is celebrated across the world in accordance with the customs and practices of the region. India, along with most countries, celebrates Father’s Day on the third Sunday of June.
