LONMARK International Offers More than Certification

The recent LONMARK International Board Meeting brought together a powerful team of leaders and visionaries in the controls industry. The panel is made up of key trade manufacturers, distributors, integrators, and end users from around the world. At the annual conference, the board welcomed its new members which represent the LONMARK Affiliate organizations across the globe now totaling thirteen, with the Netherlands, Spain, and Austria as the newest additions. A workshop was held with both LMI and LMA (LONMARK Americas) board of directors along with the LMI and LMA staff. The workshop was

facilitated by renowned team builder and corporate consultant, Tom Boyer. Mr. Boyer assisted the team in developing a new vision for and helped define key areas of focus for the coming year. The results of the workshop clearly demonstrate that LONMARK is in a transition phase from technical standards development to an industry authority and educational organization. To envisage this transformation the board established the following vision statement:

“LonMark is the recognized industry authority for certification, education and promotion of interoperability standards for the benefit of manufacturers, integrators and end users.” The team also developed several main areas to focus their efforts: 1. Education and training programs; 2. Becoming part of the solution to global environment concerns; 3.Increase and improve the value proposition for members; 4. Increase and improve end user involvement; 5. Better, more stringent technical standards. LONMARK will position itself as a central source of information and solutions for key industry issues i.e. energy conservation. LONMARK is becoming more than just a place to turn to for education, training and certification but also an organization that offers reliable, up-to-date information and solutions for the controls market.
