He made an appearance on BBC Television's music program 'Top of the Pops' with his song 'Feel Like A Clown' with Sandra Edema. Mendis released 'Open Every Door,' a song for autism in the UK in order to raise awareness of the condition. He has called on politicians of all parties provide public services for people with autism. Mendis joins other British musicians who are urging action on autism and backing the call for a cohesive national strategy. He has pledged to support research into autism and has said he will make a donation amounting to 50% of every download of the song for autism to the registered British Charity Autism Speaks UK. The charity is involved in ground breaking research into the condition.
