31.10.2006 German Guy from Hanover in the Hall of Fame of Australian Football Hanoverian Andre Krueger has been inducted in the Hall of Fame of Australian football. Krueger, well known in the German media during the 2006 World Cup, was often called "The biggest fan of the Socceroos". The award of a place in the Football Federation Australia's Hall of Fame now makes this official and recognises his long service to the sport in Australia. Krueger's knowledge of and involvement in football in Australian was not well
known in Germany, but was in Australia. Krueger's induction into the Hall of Fame places him alongside players and coaches who have represented Australia with distinction.
"What this man has accomplished for the history of the sport in Australia, cannot be described in words, " said an FFA spokesman. To be inducted into the Hall of Fame is one of the biggest honours in sport. To name Andre Krueger in the same breath as Australian sports stars such as Johnny Warren, Peter Wilson, or the World Cup team of 1974, is probably the biggest tribute which a non-Australian can claim. If one thinks that present national players as Harry Kewell, Mark Schwarzer, or Mark Viduka are not yet nominated for membership of the Hall of Fame shows how high the esteem in which the Hanoverian is held. André Krueger said of his award: "It's a dream. I would never have thought it was possible. Australian football is a major part of my life, but to be a member of the Hall of Fame is unbelievable and humbling. I am totally speechless." www.ak-tsc.de © TSC- Media, 31.10.2006
