A delegation from Goldman Sachs met Effat College delegation members Dean Dr.Haifa Jamal Al-Lail, HRH Princess Nora Bint Turki Al-Faisal Assistant to the Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, and Dr. Rania Ibrahim, Vice Dean of Students Affairs for a luncheon.
The meeting that occurred in Riyadh on June 9, 2007 included Dr. Kimberly Laboone ,Director of Enhancement Centers, graduates Eman Janbi, Amani Al Ghuraibi, and Noor Al Masri, ,Architecture student Rana Al Amawi, and Computer Science student Susan Katamourah. Delegations from Dar Al-Hekma and College of Business Administration also
attended the meeting.
Goldman Sachs is a leading global investment banking, securities, and investment management firm that provides a wide range of services worldwide to a substantial and diversified client base that includes corporations, financial institutions, and governments. The Sachs delegation that included Managing Director, Ms. Megan Taylor, and wives of members of the Sachs’ Board of Trustees was interested in learning about women and education in Saudi Arabia. The Goldman delegation members expressed their admiration with the caliber and professionalism of Effat College students. The discussions between both delegations focused on Goldman Sachs providing internships, scholarships, and professional training opportunities for Effat students and Alumni. The meeting also initiated new business and entrepreneurship prospects for women in Saudi Arabia. Dr. Rania Ibrahim, Vice Dean of Students Affairs at Effat College explained,”I think that the meeting was important because Goldman Sachs promised to offer our students scholarships and internships in the U.S. which will enhance their careers.” Noor Al Masri, an Information Systems graduate at Effat College stressed that the conference was a useful experience. According to Noor, “The meeting opened new frontiers for me because the Sachs delegation motivated us to create partnerships with companies in the United States. This will enable me to establish a private business in Jeddah.”
