Previously unknown mother-of-two records “Catch a Falling Star” for Tropicana Smoothies advert. Wide-spread interest spurs 1,000 free downloads available from 13th June exclusively at tropicana.co.uk/juices/smoothies. Since the launch of the explosive Tropicana Smoothies advert in April which saw a “firework display” of fruit, the catchy song recorded for the score has gained a bit of cult status. Due to the amount of public interest over the internet and radio Tropicana Smoothies is now offering the MP3 of the song for free to the first 1,000 people to download it from Friday 13th

June at www.tropicana.co.uk/juices/smoothies. This offer is exclusive to Tropicana Smoothies as the track is not available to buy.

The unusual choice to use the Perry Como classic “Catch a falling Star” appears to have caught viewers’ imaginations as wide-spread curiosity in the artist who recorded it has led to the track being played on Jo Whiley’s Radio 1 show as well as becoming a hot topic on blogging sites on the internet. It is actually a previously unknown mother-of-two, Nina Wall who grew up in Portsmouth whose vocals appear on the ad, and her version is to be made available exclusively from the Tropicana Smoothies website.

Adrian Baty, senior brand manager for Tropicana Smoothies said: “It’s been a really pleasant surprise how much interest the re-recording of the song for the advert has generated. Nina was a fantastic choice to sing for the track, and her voice has really struck a chord with people watching the ad. We’ve had numerous calls to the Tropicana careline asking us for details as to how to get the track, and we’ve seen similar questions far and wide across the internet. So we’ve decided to offer 1,000 free downloads of the track to anyone that wants it – all you have to do is go to the Tropicana Smoothies website from Friday, but you’ll need to be quick!”

Having never even sung into a microphone before, Nina is understandably somewhat taken aback at the growing level of interest in her budding music career. It was slightly random as to how she was asked to sing the classic track “Catch a Falling Star”, originally recorded by Perry Como, for the new advert for Tropicana Smoothies – filmed by DDB London.

Advertising agency DDB asked music producer Dan Parry to find them an artist to re-record the track for their upcoming advert. Dan, who is married to Nina’s sister-in-law, had overheard Nina singing on a family holiday and wanted to use a fresh voice for the recording in order to get an original sound, so asked her if she would do it. Nina, somewhat nervously as she had never sung professionally, or even amateur before, agreed.
