„Wolnosc“ is written in white colour with consecutive numbering I…IV. This writing is consistent to the script nameplate of Solidarnosc, the organisation of the Polish federation of trade unions. The four beer garden seatings represent four beer labels. They only differ in their imprinted logos. Tables, chairs and parasols are otherwise exactly identical in terms of size or construction.

The Polish term „Wolnosz“ means freedom and is a synomenon for the ideals of the former “Solidarnosc”. Through this installation the former high claim of the Polish people for freedom is reduced to the choice of four beer labels. Ironie is hit in the fact that these four labels belong to only one company which is on of the biggest beer/food companies worldwide. Thereby criticism on globalisation is unmistakeable. With this installation Kurt Fleckenstein addresses especially the ambivalenz of market-economyin post-communism countries and highlights in an ironic way how little the objectives of the critical trade union movement have been implemented in social life.
