'80's Female Heart Throb Added to Baby Boomer Diva List

Bern Nadette Stanis, best known for her role as Thelma on the TV sitcom, Good Times, is the latest celebrity to be inducted into the Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame. She is one of more than 70 women who make up the list. “I met Bern Nadette in Atlanta recently during a book signing event,” says Creator and Founder Beverly Mahone. “She looks as good as she did 20 years ago and is a fabulous example of what it means to age gracefully!”

The idea to establish a Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame is the brainchild of baby boomer Mahone, who says, “This is my way to recognize baby

boomer women who are on the move and making a difference.” The author of Whatever! A Baby Boomer’s Journey Into Middle Age says the thought of creating the internet notoriety site came to her when she looked around and saw all of the talented women over 40. “Hollywood and the media want us to believe a woman has to be young and beautiful to be successful but that’s simply not true, contends Mahone. “By the time we reach 40-years-old, we are in the prime of our lives. We’ve overcome obstacles. We’re more focused.” The Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame is made up of women from Ohio, California, Texas, Arkansas, North Carolina and as far away as Australia. The Divas will be formally introduced during the Baby Boomer Girlfriends Weekend Retreat set for April 18-20, 2008 in Daytona Beach. To qualify for the Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame, Ms. Mahone says a woman must meet the following criteria:

1) Born between 1946 and 1964
2) Pursuing her passion in life
3) Striving to help others succeed
4) Have overcome one major personal or professional challenge/obstacle
5) Accept aging with grace, dignity and style

Mahone points out the fact that she wants everyone to know that being 40 and over doesn't mean women have lost their stride. “Bernadette could’ve just faded off into the sunset but she didn’t.
