Dr.Andrea Taguibao, Chair of Early Childhood Education (ECE) department at Effat College and ECE student Ms. Dina Dahlan attended the 2007 Annual International Conference &Exhibition Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI) that occurred in Tampa, Florida (USA) on May 2-5, 2007. The theme of the Conference was “Education for Transformation: Impact on the Children of the World.” Six hundred and forty-nine participants from sixteen countries attended this event. development of children from birth through early adolescence. It also aims to influence the professional growth of educators and the efforts of others who are committed to the needs of children in a changing world. Dr Taguibao and Ms. Dahlan attended several important lectures in the Conference like Transformation Through Critical Reflections: Scaffolding With Cultural Stories and Children’s Literature of the Middle East: The Human Connection. All the lectures in the conference were presented by accomplished educationalists in their fields.


Dr.Andrea thanked Effat College for providing her with this valuable opportunity to attend the Conference and enhance her professional development by meeting professionals from diverse countries .She explained, “The conference presented me with new techniques that I can implement in teaching some ECE courses. I will be sharing the knowledge that I acquired with my faculty members so that they can enrich students’ learning experiences. I will also be collaborating with the ACEI to establish a branch in Effat College to represent them in Saudi Arabia.”” Ms. Dahlan an ECE freshman student stressed that the conference was an enlightening experience. According to Dina, “I learnt about the different styles of teaching and how different curricula are developed in varying countries. After attending the conference, I decided to establish a school in Jeddah that adapts the American curriculum that is a combination of traditional teaching and Montessori.”
