Six Baby Boomer Celebrities have been named to the Diva Web of Fame List. Comedienne Roseanne is the most recent addition to be inducted into the Web of Fame. “It’s so exciting to showcase fellow baby boomer women who are on the move and making a difference,” says baby boomer author Beverly Mahone, who came up with the idea to create the Diva Web of Fame last month. “I want the world to know we’re still alive and doing well, despite what anyone may think.” The veteran radio and television journalist says she believes her industry is primarily responsible for creating the

negative images of older women.

“Hollywood and the media want us to believe you have to be young and drop dead gorgeous with a mind-blowing chest in order to achieve success. I contend you can change that attitude by changing the perception. When we start to see frequent images of sophisticated, classy, hard-working and multi-talented older females in movies and magazines and on TV, I am convinced those old stereotypes will start to fade away. Mahone, author of the book Whatever! A Baby Boomer’s Journey into Middle Age, believes some folks are simply intimidated by the maturity and wisdom of an older woman who has learned, over the years, not to take any unnecessary nonsense like she may have when she was younger. To qualify for the Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame, Ms. Mahone says a woman must meet the following criteria:

1) Born between 1946 and 1960
2) Pursuing her passion in life
3) Striving to help others succeed
4) Have overcome one major personal or professional challenge/obstacle
5) Accept aging with grace, dignity and style

In addition to Roseanne, Actresses Deidre Hall, Diane Keaton, Vanessa Williams and R & B Singers Natalie Cole and Jaisun McMillian join a wonderful group of women who make up the Baby Boomer Diva Web of Fame. You can view the list by visiting Ms. Mahone’s website. Mahone says, “I want everyone to know that being 40 and over doesn’t mean we’re lost our stride. We’ve just made prime time baby!”
