Press Release from:
Applied Language Solutions
Applied Language Solutions joined Huddersfield’s top firms and business personalities at the Galpharm Stadium on Thursday evening, for the Huddersfield Examiner Business Awards. The awards ceremony celebrated the accomplishments of companies and individuals in categories covering all aspects of business, ranging from international trade and creativity to environmental issues, start-ups and community involvement.
Applied Language Solutions were awarded the ‘Employer of the Year award’ which was presented by the Huddersfield Examiner Editor, Roy Wright. This local accolade was
in recognition of the benefits offered to employees to enhance their work life experience. ALS was the clear winner in this category as their innovative HR policies have kept energy, enthusiasm and commitment high during their rapid expansion. The Translation Services Company were also finalists in two other categories: • Young Business Person of the Year • International Business of the Year
CEO, Gavin Wheeldon accompanied by members of the ALS team, was there to accept the award. He said, “We’ve received quite a few awards throughout Applied Language Solutions history, however this is the first award of this nature, which makes it extremely special. One of Applied Languages’ goals is to ensure that we are the best and most desirable company to work for in the region and receiving this award provides a clear indication that we are closing in on this target.” Above and beyond the benefits employers must offer by law, Applied Language Solutions offer their employees free parking, lunches, fruit. Everyone in the company is provided with a laptop and MP3 player. The company also pays for staff to have broadband internet access in their homes. And one of the most rewarding and unusual benefits is a fortnightly massage. They believe that a good work-life balance helps to maintain the focus and drive of the team. This goes further than weekends off and statutory holidays. Each employee is entitled to a “duvet” day and his or her birthday off each year. These employee benefits alongside the healthy and motivating working environment were also acknowledged by Investors in People who have awarded ALS with the Work-Life Balance certification. The Huddersfield Business Awards reward the achievements of industry and commerce in town. They recognise companies and individuals who make outstanding contributions to their organisations and the well-being of the local economy.
